There are two candidates listed alphabetically by last name.  One candidate is required to be selected.

Jennifer Geddes-McAlister

Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair University of Guelph, Canada;USA

It is with great enthusiasm that I apply for the position of Vice President of HUPO. As a scientist, leader, and advocate for the proteomics community, I bring a strong record of research innovation, organizational leadership, and commitment to advancing proteomics globally.

I currently serve as President of the Canadian National Proteomics Network (CNPN; term ends in 2026), a Canada Research Chair in the Proteomics of Fungal Disease in One Health, co-founder of the Canadian Artificial Intelligence and Mass Spectrometry for Systems Biology (CAN-AIMS) Consortium, and an elected member of the Royal Society of Canada - College of New Scholars, Artists, and Scientists. In these roles, I have led initiatives to strengthen national and international proteomics communities, foster cross-disciplinary collaborations, and expand training opportunities for the next generation of scientists. My leadership in organizing high-profile meetings - including co-chairing the HUPO 2024 Congress in Germany and the upcoming HUPO 2025 Congress in Toronto, highlights my ability to bring communities together and advance HUPO's global mission. Scientifically, my program integrates cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based proteomics across fungal disease of medical and agricultural importance for improved global health and food security. Equally important, I am deeply committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. As founder of the Moms in Proteomics initiative, I have built a platform that fosters recognition, mentorship, and advocacy for underrepresented groups in our field.

As HUPO Vice President, I will focus on amplifying HUPO's voice as the global home for proteomics, broadening membership engagement, and strengthening partnerships across disciplines, sectors, and regions. I am eager to bring my vision, energy, and collaborative spirit to this role, ensuring that HUPO continues to thrive as the central hub for innovation, inclusion, and global impact in proteomics.

Fuchu He

Professor and Director National Center for Protein Sciences (Beijing), Beijing Proteome Research Center, Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, president of International Academy of Phronesis Medicine (Guangdong)

Dr. He founded CNHUPO, the Beijing Proteome Research Center, the State Key Laboratory of Proteomics, the Phoenix Center (National Center for Protein Sciences∙Beijing), now a world-class hub for large-scale proteomics, Institute of Biomedical Sciences.Fudan University and International Academy of Phronesis Medicine (Guangdong).

Dr. He has been a passionate leader within HUPO, serving as an inaugural Council Member, Inaugural Chair and Co-Chair of HLPP, and as Past President of AOHUPO and CNHUPO. He organized the 3rd HUPO Congress, the 6th AOHUPO Congress, and every CNHUPO meeting for the last 20 years. To mark the inauguration of the Phoenix Center in 2015, he hosted a Nature Conference: Life Science in the Age of Big Data. His contributions have been recognized by HUPO with the Memorial Investigation Award (2004), Distinguished Service Award (2011), and Distinguished Achievement Award (2020).

As Chief Scientist, he designed and led CNHPP, pioneering the use of the proteome to define physiological and pathological states. His team stratified early HCC into three proteomic subtypes with distinct outcomes, identified therapeutic candidates, and established Proteomics Driven Precision Medicine (PDPM) as a new paradigm. In recent years, Dr. He has spearheaded the π-HuB (Proteomic Navigator of the Human Body) Project, a global effort to map the human proteome across the lifespan, define health and disease, and build a digital body navigation system.

Under his leadership, π-HuB has united over 100 leading scientists, convened international summits, and published an influential Nature white paper in 2024. At the same time, he has strengthened HUPO’s role as a driver of global collaboration, linking academia, medicine, and industry to accelerate translation. With unmatched experience and proven leadership, Dr. He is well positioned to advance HPP initiatives. His vision and resolve will help lead HUPO into a new era of cooperation and discovery.
