ECR 3-minute thesis competition |
Present your research in proteomics with a 180-second video, using one static slide and in a form that can be understood by a general audience with no background in biology.
The HUPO Early Career Researcher (ECR) Committee in collaboration with the Human Proteome Project is organizing a 3-minute thesis competition. 12 candidates will be pre-selected for the final competition, to be held in a parallel session at HUPO 2023 in Busan, South Korea September 17-21, and you are invited to participate. Join the adventure and win the prize!
Eligibility Criteria: Open to Ph.D. students who have not defended at the time of application. Applicants must be HUPO members.
How to Apply: Applicants should send a 3-minute video presenting the main ideas behind the candidate Ph.D. thesis and its expected impact for the general audience via email to ecr@hupo.org. If the size of the video is too large for an email, please upload the video on a video sharing website, such as YouTube or Vimeo.
Selection Process: Candidates communicating the most effectively their thesis topic as well as the value and potential impact of their work will be selected as finalists. The 12 finalists will be selected and notified by June 22, 2023 and are required to submit an abstract for HUPO 2022 and provide a short biosketch and headshot picture within five business days of receiving their notifications. These presentations will then be judged on the same criteria in a dedicated parallel session at HUPO 2023.
Prize: $300 for the winner and $100 for two runners-up. Awards along with cash will be presented during the Closing Ceremony & Awards Session at HUPO 2023.
