Maximizing the Impact of your Abstract and Keywords

    March 4th | 16:00 GMT
    Hear from international experts:
Reegan Burnell-Clarke – Taylor & Francis Commissioning Editor

Join Reegan Burnell-Clarke (Taylor & Francis Commissioning Editor) for a short session on "Maximising the impact of your abstract and keywords" to learn how these elements can make or break your research's discoverability and impact.

Discover how to craft a precise compelling title, write a concise and self-contained abstract, and strategically use effective keywords to maximize visibility and engagement. This session is well-suited for researchers striving to maximize the reach and influence of their scholarly contributions and will be followed by an opportunity for question and answers.

The May Institute on Computation and Statistics for Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics, taking place on April 27 – May 9, 2026 on the campus of Northeastern University in Boston MA, is open for applications!

Instructors are leading experts, who contributed numerous experimental and computational methods and software. The target audiences are both beginners and experienced scientists, with both experimental and computational expertise.

New this year, we have a greater focus on AI. We also introduce "bring your own data" sessions where you can get assistance analyzing your own data.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of our sponsors Biognosys and Fragmatics.

Participants can select a subset of the following programs:

⦁ April 27 - April 28 - Quantitative proteomics with Skyline: Susan Abbatiello, Brendan MacLean, Lindsay Pino

⦁ April 28 - AI in action: from drug discovery to regulatory insight: Romi Singh, Wengong Jin

⦁ April 29 - Quantitative proteomics with FragPipe: Alexey Nesvizhskii, Fengchao Yu

    ⦁ April 30 - May 1 - Beginners R and beginners statistics: Ryan Benz

⦁ April 30 - May 1 - Intermediate R, data visualization and statistics: Kylie Bemis

⦁ April 30 - May 1 - Applied Python for data analysis and beginners statistics: Arzu Tuğçe Güler

⦁ May 4 - May 6 Statistics for quantitative mass spectrometry & bring your own data clinic featuring a Spectonaut support specialist and MSstats developers: Brian Searle, Olga Vitek, Devon Kohler, Monika Pepelnjak

⦁ May 7 - May 8 - Interpretation of proteomic experiments in the context of biomolecular networks with INDRA: Ben Gyori

⦁ May 7 - May 8 - Analysis of mass spectrometry images with Cardinal & bring your own data clinic: Kylie Bemis

⦁ May 9 - Frontiers in computational methods:

    - Michelle Li, Deep learning models for understanding protein interaction networks and phenotype-driven diagnosis of rare genetic diseases

    - Ed Huttlin, Integration of structural predictions and protein interactions for interpretation and discovery

    - Theodore Alexandrov, Metabolite annotation for imaging mass spectrometry using METASPACE

A limited number of registration fee wavers will be available for students and postdocs affiliated with academic or nonprofit institutions.

The 2026 International School on Mass Spectrometry will be held at the Ettore Maiorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture in Erice (Italy) on September 9-14, 2026.

The International School on Mass Spectrometry (IntSMS) is a six day full immersion school aimed to give advanced and higher education in mass spectrometry to graduate, PhD, post-doc students, and all those working in different areas of science, ranging from physics, chemistry, biosciences, food, environment, to omics sciences, medicine, interested to improve their knowledge and education in mass spectrometry.

The 3rd course will focus on MASS SPECTROMETRY AND TANDEM MS OF MACROMOLECULES - Fundamentals, Advances, and Applications.

    Third course directors:

    Prof. Joseph A. Loo
    UCLA Molecular Biology Institute
    e-mail: jloo@chem.ucla.edu

    Dr. Ljiljana Pasa-Tolic
    Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL)
    e-mail: Ljiljana.PasaTolic@pnnl.gov

The lessons cover many key aspects of the theory and applications of MS and Tandem MS to macromolecules and are taught by experienced scientists, many of whom have contributed key innovations to the field.

Participants will come from a wide range of scientific sectors, including academia laboratories, public and private research centers, as well as a range of industries (e.g., chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, food sciences, and other). It will be an occasion with interactions amongst many students and tutors from different countries and create opportunities for scientific and social exchange and professional networking.
