The HUPO International Secretariat

Our Role

This two-people team; based in Montreal, Quebec, works to facilitate communication internally among the various HUPO committees and externally through interactions between the national/regional organizations and between HUPO initiatives. It also helps to heighten awareness of the importance of proteomics in diagnosing disease and drug discovery. In addition, the Secretariat develops strategic partnerships with industry and academic partners involved in commercialization of technology.  It reports to the HUPO Executive committee.  HUPO International Secretariat also handles various meetings throughout the world including HUPO Annual World Congress.  The team also strives to serve HUPO members and acts a single point of contact for any request to HUPO.

Wehbeh has been involved with HUPO since the 2nd International Congress in Montreal in 2003. Wehbeh completed his studies in Engineering in 1981 at the University of Dayton, Dayton, Ohio. Wehbeh is seasoned with multicultural experience from the Middle East, Europe and North America.  Prior to joining HUPO, Wehbeh has worked in multiple countries in the telecom sector in engineering, customer service, technical assistance and management.  Languages spoken: English, French and Arabic.
Sylvie Ouellette, Membership and Administrative Coordinator

Sylvie was a medical lab technician before turning to journalism and scientific communications. She spent nearly ten years freelancing for scientific publications (written and multimedia). At HUPO Headquarters, she now fields requests and inquiries, assists in the daily operations and is always keen to help in any capacity.  Languages spoken: English and French.
