Membership Overview
IMPORTANT CHANGES TO HUPO MEMBERSHIP:
The HUPO Board of Directors/Council has recently adopted the following two resolutions that affect the HUPO membership starting January 1, 2009.
- The yearly HUPO membership cycle will run for a full calendar year, i.e. from January 1st to December 31st.
- The rates for HUPO membership will be established in a 3-tier sliding scale directly tied to the yearly classification of the World Bank Economies of countries (i.e. High Income countries, middle income countries and Low income countries).
The 2009 membership Rates (Cycle: Jan 1-Dec 31, 2009) will be as follows:

To implement this new policy, effective immediately, for the remainder of 2008 and thereafter:
- New applications received as of October 1, 2008 and in 2009 to Join HUPO, when approved, will become active as of January 1, 2009 and will expire on December 31, 2009 regardless of the month they were received and approved in.
- If you have been a HUPO member but your membership is currently expired, you have the opportunity to renew your membership before December 31 2008 and we will extend the expiration date to December 31, 2009.
- If you are an Existing HUPO member but your membership expires in 2009, then your expiry date will remain unchanged in 2009. In 2009, you will have the opportunity to decide whether you renew in 2009 and expire on December 31, 2009 or wait and renew in 2010 in which case your membership will then expire on December 31, 2010.
Please note that:
- HUPO will not accept partial year payments.
- Members Discount to register to the HUPO Annual World Congress are extended to HUPO Active (Paid dues) members only.
- Renewal of membership during the registration to the HUPO Annual World Congress, Toronto 2009 will be charged at $100 for Delegates and $60 for Students/PostDocs regardless of your country classification.
HOW TO BECOME A HUPO MEMBER:
Membership Process
NEW HUPO membership applications will go through an approval process by HUPO Membership Committee and HUPO Executive Committee.
The approval process of new applications will take 6-8 weeks from the time the application is submitted and payment is made.
Membership Renewal of Existing members WILL NOT go through the approval process. Existing Members, please ensure that your membership dues are up to date.
Discount to attend the HUPO 7th Annual World Congress, Amsterdam 2008 is applicable only to approved members with active status.
